History was made on October 23, 1997 and Jeremy exploded into the Bahamian limelight. His thirty mile ocean swim from Beacon's Cay, Exuma to Yamacraw Beach, New Providence in a time of fifteen hours, made Jeremy a national hero and role model for the youth of The Bahamas. In May 1998, Jeremy received the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture Pace Setter Award. He graduated from Saint Andrews School in June 1999.

Jeremy's first international regional meet was the Caribbean Island Swimming Championships (CISC) in July 1992, where he won a silver medal in the 200 IM. At CARIFTA in 1999, Jeremy made both CARIFTA and Bahamian history by winning thirteen individual and three relay gold medals in the 15 and over age group. He swam every event in a three day period – heats and finals in some events! In April 1997, Jeremy became the first Bahamian to participate in the Short Course World Championships in Goteborg, Sweden. The highlight of Jeremy's career however was his participation in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games where he swam personal best times in three of the events that he had entered. Two years later, he competed in the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England and did his best times in the 200 Butterfly. In 2003 at his second Pan Am Games hosted by Santo Domingo, he made a 2004 Olympic qualifying time in the 400m. In August of the same year, he won a bronze medal in the 200m Butterfly at the World University Games in Daegu, South Korea.

He enjoys boating and playing football on the beach.

Jeremy is currently in his fourth year at Auburn University where he is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. In 2002, Jeremy made All American Honorable Mention in the 200 Butterfly. He helped his team win the 2003 NCAA Men's Swimming Championships; and received Honors on the 200 Butterfly and 400 IM and Honorable Mention on the 200 IM. Jeremy continues to train with the goal of becoming the first Bahamian to win a medal at a major international world class swimming event.
